Securus Technologies, Inc. Announced a Contract to Install an Advanced Inmate Phone System in the Ingham County Correctional Facility that will Increase Security and Help Fight Crime
Securus Technologies, Inc. a leading provider of inmate communication services and innovative offender and case management software design, today announced it signed a two year agreement with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department in Ingham County, Michigan on February 24, 2009 to install, operate, and maintain a sophisticated call management network that will provide the Sheriff’s office with advanced investigative capabilities to monitor inmate calling activities.

Captain Tom Wheeler, with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department, stated, “The Securus system will allow our line supervisors to assist the general public if they call in and express concern over calls originating from the jail. We will also have the ability to monitor inmate phone calls as well as the ability to give other law enforcement agencies access to the system to assist in their own investigations. Finally, we will also have the ability to have more than one system administrator to help navigate our way through the system. The Securus system will allow us to better pinpoint inmates that are abusing their phone privileges.”

The Ingham County Correctional Facility has an average daily population of 650 and will be supplied with one hundred (100) inmate phones.

Ralph Groves, Securus’ Regional Sales Representative stated, “Our continued interaction with the County and our strong presence in the state of Michigan helped bring this site to SECURUS. With the addition of Ingham County Securus now serves 69 of the state’s 81 County facilities.”

System Highlights:
  • Increased Crime Fighting Capabilities - The system’s anywhere, anytime access provides Ingham County investigators with vital investigative tools from anywhere in the field. This new capability is a major crime fighting tool that will help Ingham County detectives stay ahead of the sophistication of today’s criminal;
  • Centralized Platform – The centralized platform provides staff with remote accessibility to all facility communications operations;
  • Enhanced Chains of Evidence- The new system is one of the only systems that eliminates the burden of backing up all data that are the typical routine in the normal jail and are a requirement of traditional call recording systems
